What is Cursor?

Cursor is an AI-powered coding environment and coding agent developed by Anysphere, Inc. It is designed for developers who want AI to work with an actual software project rather than only generate isolated code snippets. Cursor can inspect a codebase, search files, plan changes, edit code, run terminal commands and help review the resulting changes.

The product is available as a desktop application for macOS, Windows and Linux, with additional web, CLI and mobile agent experiences. Cursor also supports cloud-based agents that can work against connected repositories and create pull requests.

Overview

Cursor is primarily aimed at software developers, engineers and development teams. Common workflows include understanding an unfamiliar repository, implementing features across multiple files, investigating bugs, refactoring existing code, reviewing changes and delegating development tasks to Cloud Agents. Its current product ecosystem includes Agent, Composer, Tab completions, Cloud Agents, Bugbot, MCP, plugins, skills and hooks.

Cursor supports multiple AI models from Cursor and external providers. Available model choices, usage pools and costs vary by plan and model, so the amount of work included in a subscription depends partly on model selection and actual usage.

Some integrations and capabilities are plan-dependent or beta. For example, Azure DevOps integration is currently public beta, while Jira integration is available only on Teams and Enterprise plans.

How to Use

1. Visit the official Cursor website and download the desktop application or access the web experience.
2. Install Cursor and sign in.
3. Open an existing project folder or begin working with a repository.

5. Review the files and changes produced by the agent.
6. Run or review the relevant tests and checks before accepting or merging changes.
7. For supported repository workflows, use Cloud Agents to delegate work remotely and review the resulting branch or pull request.

Cursor offers a free Hobby plan plus paid individual, team and enterprise plans. Current global individual pricing starts at $20/month for Pro. Cursor also has a dedicated India-only Start plan priced at ₹649/month, tax inclusive. Pricing is tied to included usage pools as well as subscription tiers, and additional model usage can be billed separately.

Free Plan

Hobby — Free. No credit card is required. It includes limited Agent requests, limited Tab completions and access to Composer. This is a genuine free plan rather than merely a free trial.

Teams is listed at $40/user/month, while Enterprise uses custom pricing. Paid individual plans provide higher Agent usage, access to additional models and capabilities such as MCPs, skills, hooks, Cloud Agents and Bugbot, with higher tiers providing larger usage allowances.
